Novosibirsk is a heart of Siberia and is considered capital city, economic and cultural centre of southwester Siberia. Sited on the River Ob and the Trans-Siberian Railway, it is the largest city in Siberia and one of the main industrial centres of the Russian Federation.
Novosibirsk is a home to the largest Siberian banks, as well as the Siberian Stock and Commodity Exchanges. By all standards it’s a relatively young city founded in 1893. Actually at that time the city was called Novonikolaevsk by Nicholas II the last Emperor and Sovereign of Russia.
