CURRENCY EXCHANGE
The national Russian currency is rouble. All payments for goods and services throughout Russia must be done in roubles, or by major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and to a lesser extent American Express).
Foreign currency can be exchanged in banks or currency exchange offices at the airport, hotels or in the city, many of them work 24 hours. The unit of money in Russia is the rouble. Rouble banknote and coin denominations are as follows:
- banknotes: 10, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000 roubles
- coins: 1, 5, 10, 50 copecks and 1, 2, 5, 10 roubles
